Blog 5&6

Hi everybody, this is going to be blog #5 and # 6 and it's going to be alot different from the others. Because it's going to be written by me. (Patty) and I'm not much of a writer. We are very happy to say that we are done with the Provenge.

Steve so far is doing really well. We really won't know how well it's going to work for about 6 to 9 months. We are told it typically takes that amount of tie for the body's immune system to fully take hold.  During that interim period Steve will be entering a clinical trial of another new drug that should start in about 4 weeks. This drug will be approved for general use very soon and should keep his cancer markers in check until the Provenge has a chance to become effective.  We have applied to two trial sites, one in Beverly Hills and the other is in Encinitas. Kind of hoping for the latter, going south would be a nice change of scenery.

All in all, this was a very exciting procedure and I really do think this type treatment could eventually replace chemo. Steve handled it so well (easy for me to say) thanks to the Hema Care people  and of course our Oncologist. We feel so lucky that we got to be a part of this and we will feel really really blessed if it works!!!!

Tomorrow (Wednesday) Steve will have surgery to remove the port in his chest the last part of this journey. Thank you all for following our adventure .... To be continued in about 4 weeks.

Love,
Patty
